Delete account

You can request deletion of your BoardLedger account and your personal data at any time. This page explains how to do it, which data is removed, what we are legally required to keep, and how long deletion takes.

1. How to request deletion

There are two ways to request deletion:

• In the app (recommended): Sign in and go to My profile → Danger tab and choose Delete account permanently. You confirm by entering your email address. Deletion happens immediately.
• By email: If you can't sign in, or want to request full deletion, email support@boardledger.com from your registered email address with the subject “Delete my account”. We use the sender address to confirm that the request comes from the account owner.

2. What is deleted

When your request is processed we remove:

• Your account and profile: name, profile picture, email and account settings
• Your memberships: your connection to all boards and organisations
• Boards where you are the only member: the entire workspace is deleted, including meetings, decisions and documents you uploaded there
• Analytics identifiers: pseudonymous usage data linked to your account

Other personal data we process about you and are not required to retain (see section 3) is deleted or anonymised as part of a full deletion request.

3. What is kept – and why

Some data we cannot delete immediately:

• Accounting information: Invoices and payment records must, under the Swedish Bookkeeping Act (1999:1078) chapter 7, section 2, be retained for at least seven years after the end of the calendar year in which the financial year ended. After that they are deleted or anonymised.
• Content in shared boards: Meetings, decisions and documents in boards that have other members remain, because they form the board's shared minutes and records. Your personal account is disconnected from the content.

If you are the sole owner of a board that has other members, you must first transfer ownership to someone else before the account can be deleted – so that the board is not left without an owner.

4. How long it takes

If you delete the account yourself in the app, it happens immediately. A request by email is processed and completed within 30 days. Data we are legally required to keep is deleted once the retention period in section 3 has expired.
